Hi. I am a UC-er, so I usually post to the UC forum, but wanted to go ahead and post this here also as I figured it might be relevant to you, my brothers and sisters in IBD. I have been reading a really reasonable book about IBD and diet, written by a Chronie who is also a nutritionist and whose Crohn's started as UC. I can't write how this book changed my life because I am just now starting to try to follow it, but I will say that I have read a lot of different diet plans for IBD. Most of them are not written by someone with the disease and most of them sound way too complicated for me, personally, to follow, as I know myself and know I need to change my diet incrementally. The basic premise is that some foods are easier on the colon than others, so eat the easy foods and not the hard ones (soluable vs. insoluable fiber). She suggests some meal plans and includes 50 recipes for starters. It just feels doable to me, and logical, and really emphasizes basic nutrition, so I wanted to pass along the book in case any of you have been like me, looking for some reasonable guidance on food but feeling like all the proposed ideas are really extreme. so, here's the link, and here's hoping it works (I will let you know if it actually does in a few months). and no, I am not receiving an kick-back from the author, which is a shame because the cost of asacol sure would make a kick-back much appreciated.... :)
