Active Crohns/Inactive Crohns, I am confused ???

I was in the hospital 17days in Dec. I was admitted for partial obstruction that cleared up and still had ongoing abdominal pain on the right side. Test were run and I was told I had no active Crohns showing and a fistula that had healed. I was thought to had developed some sort of infection, first was told it might be C-difficile and then that that wasnt conclusive. I was still given Vancomycin in the hospital and discharged on it for 14days. I was also in the hospital in Sept for 9 days without a blockage but ongoing pain that was not controllable and couldnt eat or sleep, etc. I plan on asking my GI some questions next week about my latest stay and what the plan is now. He has raised the dosage of Remicade and mentioned  switching me to Humira if necessary. I have had numerous abdominal surgeries and I  am wondering if I have a stricture from scar tissue or something else that is causing problems. How can they tell from tests if the Crohn's is active or not? Something is going on because I havent had back to back hospital stays for Crohn's that close together in over 15 years. Every time I develop a bad flare lately it leads to the hospital. Has anyone else been told there Crohn's is not active but still had problems with it?

I know it is so frustrating. There like we dont believe it's your Crohn's and I am like well I cant eat and I have severe pain, and it is on the lower right quadrant of my adbdomen. I had lots of adhesions removed during a hysterectomy surgery in Sept 2004. I had one doctor tell me that he believed it could be something going on from previous surgeries causing problems too. I dont know how they determine that, they mentioned possibly doing a laparocopy (sp?) if I didnt get better recently. I just pray that I dont have another hospitalization again anytime soon. I see doctors at the Mayo so that has been a godsend. I am on a low residue diet too right now and I am taking a Probiotic (Florastor). It is good to talk to other people than can relate to what you've been through. Thanks, Amy

Adhesions can be confusing. I had one tying my small intestine to my front abdominal wall, like a sausage and I had no obstructive symptoms. My gyn who did the surgery (laparoscopic) was amazed I hadn't obstructed. In fact, he thought he was going to have to schedule me for an open surgery to release it but was able to do it through the scope. I had pain (the reason for this laparoscopy) in the RLQ, exactly where the adhesion was, which went away after the lap only to return 3 months later. They did another laparoscopy, thinking the adhesion had reformed. Guess what? It hadn't. Same pain, no adhesion the second time.
