Hello,

I am going to enter school next fall and an looking for Health insurance that I can actually afford. Unfortunately the student health insurance wouldn't cover the cost of my Crohn's care. Does anyone know of anything that covers our costs but is friendly to the student budget???

It sure would be nice if there was such a thing. Private health insurance is so outrageously expensive even just basic coverage. I remember when my Daughter was in College that the Full Plan Student Health Insurance wasn't so cheap either. Surprised that Student Health Insurance wouldn't cover at least some of your needs.

I had bollinger when I was in college, that was all they offered thru the school and they barely covered n e thing besides er visits and even those had a co pay. I'm looking for coverage now cobra is looking like the only option and its crazy expensive, I'm only 1 year outa college myself.
Hsve u looked n2 public assistance at all. I was able to get temporary medicaid for like 6 months when I was n school I had drs letters ad stuff, but it was still for only six months

I'm in college but I luckily have insurance through work. The one thing I suggest that everyone look into is hospital income. State farm offers it for like 22 a month. but the benefit is that for everyday you are in the hospital that year they pay you $250. The downside is because crohns is a pre existing condition I have to wait one before I can claim anything. 7months to go.

I had never heard of hospital income before. What a novel concept. As for student health insurance, I second what others have said. Consider state programs, cobra your current insurance, or try to finangle a job w/ school. My schools insurance plan is good but it does not cover RX's over $500/year. I would reach that limit in a month. But, another poster on here faced with the same dilemna contacted the school and the insurance company and they had other more comprehensive plans she could choose from. Good luck finding something and if you do let us know.

If anyone finds it, do let me know! I am also a grad student and can't find health insurance. I can't even get insured through private companies because of having an existing condition, regardless of what I would be willing to pay. It really stinks because I want to continue on in school but I feel like I need to find a job that provides health coverage.

The sad reason why my Daughter hasn't been able to go to Grad School because she HAS to work for Health Insurance. It's a shame that is has to be #1 Priority in life. The long hours she works doesn't even allow her to try accomplishing Grad School or any extra schooling even part time.

Blue Cross/Blue Shield claims they will insure everyone and anyone but at a huge premium price I am sure.

Maybe the new trend will be marrying for insurance rather than marrying to avoid deportation!! We could start a business; a clearing house of people that don't want to save their right to marry for whatever reason, but are insured, and are willing to sell it/trade it to someone who needs to be "married" for insurance. It would be a "life event" qualifying that person to get on the insurance asap. What a brilliant idea though I am sure somehow illegal.

What a plan! I keep telling my Daughter that the only way she will be able to go to Grad School possibly is when she gets married to someone who has good Health Insurance.

Hehe! "Marry for the love of Health Insurance, not love itself" could be the motto of your business.
