also there giving the book away ay the the health store near my home.
Wow! That's my kinda health food store!!! I don't suppose you live in IL or MO...I need another copy for my mom! ;-)
Confused in IL, yes, I'd say the book explains all you need to know. I don't think the diet eliminates eating out, you will simply need to choose better restaurants. For instance, many nicer restaurants will prepare the meats redspot listed without sugary sauces, heavy breading or seasonings w/msg and other additives. (Whether they are organically raised is another question, but for one night out I don't believe it's imperative) Their veggies are likely prepared without these things too, but if not, you simply ask for them plain or for dressings on the side.
That said, we don't eat out nearly as much as we used to. That's one way I justify the increase in what I'm spending on organics at the store.
Pointers or advice? Get several main-meal recipes gathered up, make your list and go shopping. I don't really enjoy cooking, so I floundered in the beginning just finding enough main-meal things to eat that had any pizazz. Now I've gotten better at marinades and sauces to add that pizazz. Use the recipe section at the back of the book and also check out the SCD website and books. Many of their recipes "cross over". As I got better at the process I discovered how to alter favorite recipes I already have to conform. Also, don't know what I'd do without the bulk herb/seasoning section at our local health food store. They have things like taco seasoning that doesn't contain msg or sugar or starch. Very helpful!
Snacks were tricky at first--actually still are! If anyone has any input here, I would love some help! My son eats raw seeds and nuts often times, but he's tiring of that. He doesn't really care for a true trail mix w/dried fruit...so I'm still looking for snacky stuff. Bananas and other fruit do help, though.
