Pain in Very low back

Does anyone have a sharp stabbing pain in the lower left side of the back area, could also be called left low butt area, i guess.  I can be just fine.  Getting along fairly well for a while and all the sudden this pain will stop me in my tracks.  Luckly it is sharp and quick.  It doesn't stay, just comes in sudden jolts. And continues for days. The only thing I find that help is a Ice pack.  I try pain medicine, but most pain medicine knocks me out.  Which sucks.  Most the time this pain is the first indicator that i'm getting ready to flare.

 

Anyone have anything like this?  Any suggestions?

 

I am a self-employed lady locksmith with with no health insurance and now since I have Crohn's, I am uninsurable.  Not alot of Dr. Help available to me.

I am currently getting my medicine from my family doctor.  Lucky I have her.  Dr's don't want nothing to do with you if you don't have insurance.  I live in NC and there is no state insurance pool available for the uninsurable.  Pretty much SOL.

It sounds like it could sciatica (inflammation of the sciatic nerve, which runs in that area) - especially if the pain extends into your leg. This is a very common but painful condition. If you can tolerate ibuprofen, that might help you the most, as well as continuing to ice it. I'll try to find some pics of stretches you can do to try to relieve the pain as well. Can you perhaps talk about it with your family doctor over the phone to see if she thinks it's worth a visit to see her?
