Humira pen activated by mistake.

I know I saw this subject before but was not on humira, and my search didn't yield anything. Now I am taking humira and I accidently hit the needle end of the pen and it shot out my medicine. eyes Do I contact humira or my ins company? And did they replace it for you? I had asked for the shots in the first place and they sent these.

I think the first call you should make is to your pharmacy, or wherever you got the pens from. Then call your doctor and see what they suggest you do. I wouldn't wait on this because you don't want to go too long between doses. Maybe you could ask to exchange the pens for the syringes? Good luck to you.

Hello Zazucat,

I actually just did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I contacted my Insurance and they told me to contact Humira directly. Humira replaced the pen free of charge and had it on my door step with in 4 days. They have a great website that I didn't even know about myhumira.com Hopefully they will provide you with the same service.

I'm so glad someone posted this question. I often wondered what would happen if I messed up with the pen. Thanks for the information.

I agree that the Humira website and their phone assistance have been wonderful.

I have not had this happen but know of others that have.I used the pens one time and requested that I be put back on the shots because I do not like the pens.Good luck and let us know what you find out.

I think you should contact Humira directly, I'm positive they will replace it for free. Good luck!

Great question and good to know.  I would have thought they would want another Rx from you physician.  Glad to here they have a worthy website too.

Thank you all, I haven't been home for more than 10 min today, so I will call Humira in the AM. It was my last shot of a 6 dose supply. Now I can relax a little more, and I will ask for the pens. You guys are great.
