Right colectomy

I am having surgery monday and just wondering if anyone has had a right colectomy and how it went.

right hemi-coloctomy? if thats what you ment , yes i have had that done years ago. the right section of your colon is removed and the remaining part is reatached to your small bowel. sometimes this is needed because of the amount of disease in the terminal ileum area that has spread or is too adhered to the acending or "right" side of the colon, which is the area of the ileo-cecal valve etc...

i would be dang sure what exactly you are having done BEFORE you get to the hospital monday. if you are at all unsure , be certain to ask the surgeon to explain it in terms you can understand before ANY type of operation.

Just a right colectomy I was just wondering how it went I am nervous that's all.

Hi Tish,
I am sure you are nervous, and I will be saying a prayer for you.  I have never had one but I have taken car of a fair amount of patients that had this procedure and they have done well, so we are all here to support you and cheer you on.

well in that case, mine went very well actually. it was my third surgery. it is basically the same as a regular resection , just a differant part of the ole' guts. hook up is the same after. :o)
