Hi all! I just wanted to say hello. I am newly diagnosed...January 7, 2007 to be exact. I have been suffering for about a year with so many symptoms, had so many tests done all that came back normal. I had been so frustrated! But January 5 had that all change! I woke up and took a drink of water and threw it up! I knew something had been wrong previously, but this was different...so I finally let my husband take me to the ER! The ER doc continued to ask why I had never had a colonoscopy and I said I don't know...I kept asking my GI and he never thought it to be necessary even though I explained my symptoms profusely (diarrhea, pain, losing 30 pounds in 6 months, fevers, etc) so finally because my heart rate was up to 170 just sitting they admitted me to the hospital! I got another CT (the one the week before was completely normal) but this one showed inflamation, followed by a colonoscopy (which I still partially remember because my BP dropped too low and they couldn't give me any more meds) and small bowel follow through. All of which then FINALLY gave me a diagnosis of Crohns. Sadly enough, I am actually happy to know there is something wrong with me! So, after 6 days in the hospital, weighing only 105 pounds, I got to come home to a new lifestyle of taking meds four times a day and trying to figure out what to eat. Although I feel blessed compared to some of you as I can eat fairly normally, although am limiting my fiber per doctor's requests. I even went out to dinner last night with my husband for the first time in a year without getting sick hours afterward! So, happily I am doing much better, and I am praying for those of you who are struggling righr now. Anyway, sorry for the raving...I had been reading everyone's posts which have been SOOO informative that I wanted to put my story out there and say hi!
