Wow...thanks everyone! It sure helps to get all your feedback! I do wish I'd thought about
this before; had his blood levels checked or simply added it to the lineup.
The injections sound like a possibility. Really convenient. One less thing to take every day. Hummm...
Since I posted that question early this morning I've learned a bit more about
the supplement form. I read somewhere what Crazy Harry posted--that it isn't well absorbed in the stomach or intestines (probably even less absorbed in CD intestines), so the sub-lingual is recommended. This causes it to by-pass the intestines and get directly into the system. Also, as Ides posted, supposedly the methylcobalamin version is superior in the sub-lingual. Sooo...I raced out this evening and bought a sub-lingual form. Guess what? I didn't read it closely (I know the store owner and we were chatting
) and when I got home I noticed it said "in a base of sorbitol."
So THAT bottle will be going back to the store. I'm going to look for a sub-lingual in some other base--maybe fructose? I've heard xylitol, sorbitol, etc, can cause diarrhea in folks WITHOUT intestinal problems. Not gonna chance that one!!!
Ides, what brand do you use? And it honestly took three months? Did you start to notice anything any sooner than that--like energy-wise? My son says he only notices the lack of energy when he's swimming. Hoping this will help a bit.
