Exam for Perianal skin tags

Ok, this is the place where you can ask any question without embarassment.  Can someone tell me what is going to be involved when I mention what I think might be perianal skin tags the next time I go to the gi office in March?  My gynecologist advised me to run it past them as she had no idea what it/they was.

Is this a job for the gi office? Or do I need to go to a colo-rectal doctor? (I've been to one before, he did do a rectal exam, but in the tradition lying on the side position. He was not looking for something on the outside)

Can they check for them while lying on my side?  Or is this going to be a butt in the air position?   they were easily visable in the gyn exam position but I know that won't be how its done.

Last question- isn't this something that would have been seen when the gi doctor did the colonoscopy in April?

Ya I'm a female and when I was sent to a colo-rectal surgeon to have my skin tags looked at, the particular office I went to had this beastly looking table thingy that I had to lay on face down with my pants down, and he pushed buttons and this table thingy moved my butt up into the air, it was the weirdest contraption I'd ever been in, talk about feeling vulnerable, I felt like my butt was gonna touch the ceiling or something...I actually laughed out loud and the colo-rectal surgeon said he usually heard alot of comments about this table but I was the first who laughed out loud about it.

They moved offices and didn't bring those tables with them, just regular exam tables and on that he had me laying on my side, knees bent up to my chest for the exam.

Sorry about your skin tags, they are no fun, especially when they get mistaken for hemmies and they perform and emergency hemmie surgery on them (they banded mine) which is a big no no...they say that a script of cortifoam usually shrinks them back down and out of a flare...mine however, have remained in a flare ever since that dreaded surgery...perianal crohns skin tags were my very first symptoms of crohns which is one reason why they were likely misDX.

They have never asked me to bend over! Yikes! I lay on my left side and they check. I've got a couple of them. I hate them... we all do, huh?!
