Aleve/Naproxen for pain?

im not sure most have a clue. my H's dr gives him keflex when his joints swell. now any crohnnie knows what keflex will do. almost any antib will do it and we have to choose accordingly to the easiest one on the gut. not her. add in he is a alcoholic who is basically sober only maybe one day a week, what the keflex will do, and the picture just is not pretty. and yes, what all you have pictured is exactly what happened. for days he simply strung....well anyways.

what does the dr say? not her problem!

however, we will NOT do that again, if i have a say in it. oh, no. not pretty is a understatement.

naproxyn would eat up ones guts. course she gives him celebrex also. shakes head*

Wow...  this one hits for me.  The weekend before I hemorrhaged I took Aleve about 3-4 times.  I was tired of the pain, had nothing else but tylenol, which was like a sugar pill.  A few weeks after the week in the hospital my GI (who had told me not to take that or ibu) said that could have "helped" the hemorrhage.  I won't touch that stuff with a 10 foot poll.

That said, everyone responds different.  I only know my GI tells me not to.

I was told to steer clear of Naproxen. Because it could really back fire.

Doctors are clueless on this. I'm not sure if they don't stop to think before they make recommendations or if they just don't know the harm of their suggestions. I've started putting NSAIDS down as an allergy for this reason-- it is the only way to point it out to non-GI docs.

My hubby has been on the Napoxen for years for the arthritic pain and he just had his yearly physicial............all labs ok, no liver problems or elevated BUN. He got his yearly refills. 

As usual each person can tolerate different meds and he does not use daily but on an as necessary basis.
