Finally found out where the fungus came from!

I have had a fungus amoung us for over 2 years which has been being treated as psorasis. It began while on Remicade (mild rash). Since I've had to up my dosage on Humira to 40mg once a week the fungus amoung us has become VERY aggressive! I had noted the downfall of symptoms with the switch from Remicade to Humira and felt that possibly one biologic was more effective in this area than the other. Wrong. While at work today we recieved a notice from Abbott Labs that more fungal infectons were being reported with ALL biologics. Hmmm...I know it's a trade off but thought I'd share.

I developed an odd scaly patch on my upper lip. Very small. It grew larger until I was becoming self-consciencious and covering it with more and more make-up. Thought I had a skin cancer so saw my PCP. He referred me to a dermatologist but said in the mean time use the antifungal med because that's what it looks like to me. I thought surely he was wrong. But the scaly patch cleared quite rapidly. Under the patch was a tiny, grayish pearl like thing that was flat with the skin. This "pearl" continued to grow and rose up and up from skin level. Frankly I thought it looked somewhat mushroom-like. Anyway, on a trip out of state in November, I awoke one AM and it was gone. It must have fallen off in my sleep. Nothing has returned.

Come to think of it, this began when I was on remicade but got a lot worse when I switched to Humira.

I had to laugh! I got the same thing on my finger while on remi. It popped up suddenly and went away just as fast, one morning it was almost gone except for a sl raised scaly area. I thought it was some kind of wart. I will try an anti-fungal cream on the spot that is left. I have read not to take a certain oral anti-fungal while on these meds.
