I just started the new drug mezavant, in Canada, same as Lialda .

It is great to take just 1 dose a day. I tried all the other pentasa, salofalk,

asacol, sulfasalazine, they either did nothing, or gave me side effects..

so far so good, with the side effects issue on mezavant. I am afraid to say it

in case it backfires on me.

Mezavant just came out on January 29th from the company shire.

I have never heard of Mezavant....which part of Canada are you from? Does insurance pay for this drug?
I have been on sulfasalazine for years....they give me terrible headaches but all others were worse and since it seems to maintain my CD "fairly " well...I put up with the headaches because I don't want to go on any of the "bigger guns". ....although I've come awfully close a few times with partial obstructions.

I kept checking the shire web site , and then on Jan. 29th is when the medication came out. I called the pharmacy and they checked their system, and it is available.

I am from ontario, Yes the insurance did cover it.

It comes in bottles of 120 pills , and you only take the dosage once a day.
