how can you tell if you have a stricture

Yes these are among the symptoms I associate with disease activity and stricture. However, they could also be caused by gas from excessive bacterial overgrowth -- or oher things.

In my early experience with strictures, the most significant symptoms was severe cramping in advance of a bowel movement. My stricture was located in the TI so I experienced the worst bowel cramps deep in the lower right quadrant. These pains were intense enough sometimes to induce vomiting. Although the pain was the most memorable, the daily cycle of bloating and fullness was perhaps the most common. I could never eat three regularly timed meals in a day. If I ate breakfast and lunch, by supper I was uncomfortable and definitely not hungry. Sometimes the feeling of bloated fullness would resolve during the evening leaving me ravenous before bedtime. I lived with a significant stricture for nearly 15 years. As it worsened I developed cycles of constipation followed by excruciating pain and then explosive diarrhea. This was a regularly occuring cycle. I looked forward to the diarrhea. As long as I was going to the bathroom I had little pain, but as soon as things stopped up again, so too would the cycle of pain, distention and fullness begin again. Within that period I had several complete obstructions, all of which resolved after 12-16 hours of intense pain and vomiting. This was 30 years ago and at the time, I opted to use minimal medication and just toughed it out. With the changes in medical management of this disease and the drugs available today I would not make that decision.

Can u see a stricture on a CT? Tonight I was so sick..LOTS of pain.. horrible smelling gas... then the runs set in... the pain subsided. I have this awful feeling something not right is happening.
