You should try the once daily dosage of mezavant.  If you are already taking  asacol, pentasa etc. Mezavant is the same ingredient , but you only take it once daily. It is great just having to take it once a day, and also the side effects seem to be less..

I'm no expert on this, but I think the differences between all the 5asa drugs has something to do with where in the digestive tract they are optimally released. Mezavant is meant to have it's best effect in the colon. Probably more suited to UC than Crohn's. Again, I'm no expert, perhaps some others can give some insight.

No, asacol, imuran and such are also used for crohns when it's affecting the colon...crohns-colitis, not just for UC but for inflammation in the colon regardless if it's from UC or crohns-colitis.

I have crohn's and I have 3 feet of my large bowel removed. I am taking mezavant.
