My GI's guts

Evidently he has some, because he is taking the plunge and signing up for a special prescribing program so I can get some Lotronex (alosteron HCl). This may assist me in perhaps avoiding hospitalization for dehydration on a regular basis. Do you guys know about this drug? (Sorry, y'all can't take it because you have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease - it's massively constipating, evidently, and can only be used for the "special" people who go 239847 times a day with no known cause because it can cause ischemic bowel disease).

Hmm...small chance of ischemic bowel disease, or virtually 100% chance of suffering and re-hospitalization for chronic dehydration? I'm going to go for it! To heck with the naysayers, I'm a risk-taker!

I'm interested too. If I get sick and vomit for a day I can almost bet on a hospital visit to rehydrate. Or double up on my TPN if I can convice my homehealth company to let me. I've had constant D for a year. No breaks.

I hope it works Sarita. At least with you becoming a doctor you might be able to start giving yourself home rehydration iv's lol. I had EMT friends that would "rehydrate" after a night of partying.
