Thought this might interest those of you trying to decide whether or not to go on prednisone. My GI doesn't prescribe it, so I've been lucky to avoid the side effects.

This is why pred is not a maintenance drug but instead a "booster" until maintenance drugs kick in...pred used to work great for me (with no side effects other than tiny acne all over my back) but it no longer has any affect on my crohns symptoms.

That was an interesting article. I still think steroids have their place in treatment. Usually while the other meds are given a chance to work.
