After colonoscopy questions ...

So he found the disease active - and internal fistuals

I had the colon on Wednesday and have been sick ever since; had no pain prior to the colonoscopy ; is this normal ? Did it stir up things - I feel terrible

not to mention I am now bleeding both vaginally and rectally

not alot ...but it is dark clotty blood when I wipe ...I can somewhat feel myself leaking and have to go to the bathroom to tend to it ...

Here is my problem ; I had gotten my period a week ago today ...it had ended by tuesday ; before the colonoscopy - so I am thinking for some strange reason maybe this is just my period being weird ( it never lasts this long! ) usually just a few days

Anyway ..one of the fistuals was found to be in the perinum which is why I am so concerned and confused . I dont know what to do .

I have a trip planned to visit dad in NY in 2 weeks ...long travel days in 3 airports ...I am not looking forward to it feeling this sick ...

maybe I should go on prednisone ...think it could help ?

I know I need to call the doc..but I want to be sure this bleeding is not my period - I would feel really dumb

Some minor bleeding is common after a scope, expecially if biopsies were taken. If it lasts more than a couple fo days it ought to be reported however. As for the internal fistulas, it may also be that one is leaking menstrual blood into the colon causing it to emerge from both places. I would say if yuo have not seen improvement by noon today, call the GI and talk to the nurse.

Hello and I am so sorry your having problems.  All the Gi docs I know want you to call if you have a concern post colonoscopy so please take Mike's advice and make the call.  It will put your mind at ease or at least give you some futher instructions.

Hello Misterie,

I really feel for you! Get this type of news will certainly make you feel blue and concerned about the future! But definitely keep in touch with your Dr. Did your Dr talk to you about next steps for the fistulas? Did he put you on antibiotics? I find it helps me deal if I know what the plan is -- even if it may change in the future.

Thanks everyone...you are right ...it helps so much to talk to someone -

unfortunately its friday and I doubt I will even get to speak with anyone today - his office is really bad

I have access to my op report because I work at the ASC where I had it done ( one of the perks ) so he says he wants me to start humira or cade again ..thats what he told my husband and that I should see him in 2 weeks ,ofcourse I couldnt get the appt until 3 weeks ( thats after I return from my trip )

his report also says get me on prednisone again too ... but he didnt talk to me , i was still sort of under the anesthesia ...

I am going to try calling at least to maybe get to see him sooner somehow ...
