How do you know if you have a blockage?  I have had nothing but loose to looser bm's for over 10 yrs now all of a sudden my bm's are more formed and I am having a bit of trouble going.  How do I know if this is a blockage or just the prednisone?  Usually right after a Remicaide my bm are more formed for a couple days than go back to being loose.  I had a remicaide last Thurs.  Also most people on here seem way more informed about their disease- my doctor never mentioned blockages or alot of other terms on here.

When I have a blockage, I go from a relatively flat tummy to looking like I am 7 months pregnant in a matter of an hour or so.  I have incredible pain, no bowel sounds, no bowel movements, no gas, sometimes I am nauseaus.  If you are still having bowel movements, it isn't a complete blockage, it could still be a partial blockage though.  Are you having an increase in pain?  A blockage can be very serious, if you are in doubt, please call your doctor.

Hi I agree with Zanne I looked very distended too and bad pains .I had gurggling with mine, it was a partial blockage. I had good formed BM's after my Remicade too and the pred. does help get BM's formed. I had IBS for years and had D all the time now I have Crohn's and on meds and a resection my bowel movements are finally solid.Welcome to Healing Well .lol gail

I am only having minimal pain and it is only when I am trying to go other than that I feel pretty good.  Maybe it is not being used to the formed bms.  My stomach is not distended any more than usual either.  I am weening off the prednisone now so hopefully that will help.

If you aren't distended and only having minimal pain then most likely you are just adjusting to medicine changes. But it is really good to pay attention to all the changes you go through. It is the only way to really understand what is "your" normal and what isn't. Anything that isn't normal for you should be discussed with your doctor.
