My Crohns has always being the stricturing (scarring) type of Crohns.  I have had 2 resections and now live with my biggest side effect which is nausea.  I have the nausea because of mechanical problems related to the resections.  I take Zofran 8 mg every morning and 25 mg Phenergan.  Most days that keeps me able to go about my day.  But there are times every couple months when things get out of control (like the past couple days) that these meds don't help. (Actually sometimes the phenergan works better than Zofran, but causes drowsiness.)

I have taken Tigan, Compazine (allergic/sensitive), Reglan (allergic/sensitive), and now Zofran and Phenergan.  I am just curious if any one else have found another nausea med that might work for me in those every couple of months problems.

My daughter's mil is fighting cancer right now and has used Zofran before, but is currently taking a med she likes better called Kytril.

Anyone take anything else that works really well for your nausea?  Maybe Kitt or Sarita, with your medical backgrounds, might have more suggestions.  Also, any nausea meds that are sublingual?

When I was having all the gastritis issues, I was having to double up on the nausea meds. I would take Tigan by suppository and Zofran orally.  I would take them about a half hour apart just to make sure that one wouldn't do the trick.  It might be a stop gap measure for now.  Compazine used to be my go to drug, but I too developed an allergy to it, so now its out.  I hope someone can come up with something for you. 

The other suggestion is to talk to your pharmacist.  They seem to know more about all the different drugs than some of my doctors, also they are more up on what the insurance will cover!

I have kinda been trying the past couple of days to take 1/2 Phenergan with every pain pill I take (So in a way doubling up). I kinda think the xtra pain meds I have been taking are aggravating everything in there. But I just have to wonder if there is something else out there that works better than the others. Thanks for the tip Zanne now get your butt to the ER! LOL

Just wanted to give you a heads-up that I was looking at the various anti-emetics and you've evidently tried all of them (!) except for this new one, Kytril. It's generic name is granisetron and basically it has an effect on your vagus nerve, which controls the "vomit center" in your brain. I think the side effect profile is similar to Zofran's but it might be another option, in addition to the dissolvable Zofran. Good luck and let me know how you're feeling!
