Angiodysplasia anyone??

I had a colonoscopy about a month ago and found out my bleeding was coming from angiodysplasia in my rectum.  My GI doc. said he can lazer it off if it doesn't stop.  I have been using Anucort and it was working pretty good in the beginning but it has gotten a lot worse lately.  My question is, Has anyone ever had it?

Wow this is the first I have heard of it, but it looks like it could be really easy for CDer's to get. It sounds like surgery might be the way to go, especially if you are male...

I haven't had angiodysplasia, but it looks like it might be caused by dilation of the venous system in the rectum, and fistulas can develop between the veins and arteries, leading to increased bleeding. I read that 90% of these cases heal on their own, but the option your GI talked about is electrocoagulation, where they use electrical energy to stop the bleeding. Kind of lasering it, like you said. Did he give you a timeframe for determining whether it's going to heal on its own?

The term "angiodysplasia" just means that there is a structural abnormality in the blood vessels. In this case it is referring to the stretching of blood vessels in the colon/rectum, which causes bleeding.
