Hello,

I am in an akward situation, I have been told by my pain management Dr. that he feels it's tme to look at the surgery option again. Also crohn's has resufaced and it is getting out of control too, my GI doc is booked up and won't see me, he says go to the ER. Honestly how long would my visit take of his time? I told the nurse I am bleeding from my bottom and today it's worse. I am so frustrated, I hate to say it but because I am on disability and have medicare/medicaid Dr's just don't want to help because it won't make them any money. So here I am waiting for the nurse to return my calls.

I am so sorry that you are having to experience this. I understand how frustrating it can be when you need to see (or even just talk to) your doctor, but a receptionist or nurse is in the way! My GI works at a digestive specialists clinic where there are several GI's. If I needed to see him and he wasn't available I'd ask which one of them is then!!!

Or, is it possible for you to call around to find a different GI? Or maybe you just try and get in with your PCP and see if they can help you get to a GI quicker. I would say that if the bleeding and/or symptoms keep getting worse, then perhaps a visit to the ER would be good. Keep us posted!

Hi Perhaps if you go to the ER you will get the help you need. The pain meds might be masking a serious problen. Where did you have the previos surgery done on you? Hope you can get this issue resolved.lol gail

I agree with gail about going to the ER. I had a bleeding problem a few weeks ago, got freaked out and went to the ER. Honestly, they weren't able to do much to help me since it wasn't severe. BUT, I was able to get in to see my doctor the very next day because I told them I needed an ER follow-up. Sooo... if they aren't taking you seriously at the doctor's office, an ER trip will probably change that in a flash.

I also suggest going to the ER, they will get you whatever you need and it will happen quickly vs. waiting for a doctor/nurse to call and seeing 4 other doctors before someone does anything.  *hugs*  Hope you get some relief soon!
