Bowel Spasm

Hello,

I need some help!I have been having these really intense pains in my sigmoid before i have a bowel movement.the worst pains ever like im screaming.I saw my Gastro on monday after not seein ghim since dec when he did a sigmoidoscopy and said my colon looked great he was shocked.My blood work is great, he said i have a cranky sigmoid well today it was more like PISSED OFF with me.Today I was driving to school had these pains again but wayyyy worse this time to the point i had to scream at the top of my lungs in my car I coudnt pull over i was on the highway in rush hour i started to get blurry.Iam on remicade and Imuran and have been pretty good since i was really realy sick and hospitliazed 2 years ago.But these pains are getting worse my doc said its a bwel spasm.has anybody had one???when i have the bowel movement lots lots of formed stools are coming like the length of my arm.My doc said ot come back and see him in 4 weeks.any advice would be great!

YES I get them constantly and they are DREADFUL. I get them to the point where I have to pull over (if possible) and no matter how long OR short they are I am in tears. Their are spasm medications that you can take for this, however, they do not always work and honestly a lot of them are so BRUDAL but they only last a very short periods (if we are on the same page pain wise). They are awful and my Doctor calls them spasms as well. I am so sorry!
Not much I can do to help though but I know what they are and they are awful. You sorta wanna die when you get them and you can't explain it to anyone unless they have them!

RJ: A colon relaxer? Is that like a spasm med? Please give me some names! That is one thing I have not tried, Thanks!

Bentyl, Levsin or Donnatal are a few that are available in the states. These are all anti-spasmotics. I like the Levsin & Donnatal the best.

I take Levsin four times a day. You put them under your toungue and they melt. I take one before every meal and one before bed. It doesn't take away the pain completely but it really takes the edge off for me.
