I'm not dying (not today anyway)

Saw the GI yesterday, told him about my fears of chronic pancreatitis. He told me that they will keep a close eye
on me,in fact, he's referring me to a specialist. He told me that, the biggest threat, which can happen to about 1 in 5
is pancreatic cancer, the other is insulin dependent diabetes. For the inflammation, there are various enzymes that
they can try on me. So not all doom & gloom!!

I do however, have to go back on Humira. He says that my CD is still active, and he thinks the benefits are going to
out weigh the risk to my liver and pancreas. I have to have 6weeks worth & then see him again. If there's no improvement
he will scope me again, and we will go from there.

So thats my update. I'm feeling a little better....

Vicky - I'm glad to hear you're relatively OK. Pancreatic cancer and diabetes are not risks we want to think about, but with close monitoring, you should be in the safe 4 out of 5 statistic.

Hi Vicky. I had my share of bouts with pancreatitis. The doc put me on Creon(spl) a pig pancreas enzyme, for a year. Sort of shut my own pancreas down for a year and gave it time to heal some. The benifit was great. Dont lose hope. Your going to get better . Keep us up to date....
