Rosacea??

I read somewhere that something like 14 million people in the US have rosacea. I never knew I had rosacea until I got a copy of some medical records prior to an out-patient surgery and read the notes. Two different doctors had observed I had rosacea. When I brought it up to my PCP, he poo-pooed it. I have the redness and the many small visible blood vessels on the face. My skin is also very dry. Fortunately I do not have the acne component of rosacea. I have become a fanatic about my skin, keeping it clean, moisturized, and protected from the sun. It has helped in that my pronlem has not gotten any worse. Perhaps you should think about consulting a dermatologist to get ahead of this since you just have noticed the problem. Let us know what you find out.

Lynn . . . not to scare you, but I think Humira can cause drug induced lupus. Your "rosacea" may be a malar rash. Make sure to make your doctor aware of this and to note any other new symptoms. Blessings!

I just talked to my doctor,I am a procrastinator ,sometimes,anyhoo,he does not think it's drug induced lupus,but is doing lab work to prove it,if it's not,then I stay on it,if it is ,there is another med,but I forgot the name.He just went to a huge conference,with Humira being one of the main topics,and many patients do get red from it,but have great results,which I have had,so if my labs are negative,I will see a dermatologist to get something to decrease my redness,which is much worse at work then at home anyways.  ANybody know of any good creams to take some redness away??

Clinique has a line of "redness solutions," facial wash and other products. I use the daily protective base, SPF 15 under my foundation. I don't know if I have rosacea, but I seem to just have red, dry skin that burns easily. I think the Clinique stuff helps a little. I get an inflamed eyelid now and then and have to use the baby shampoo too! Maybe it's all more crohnnie stuff...I just never connected it!
