patent 7,241,809 treatment with DHNA salt

Do you understand this? If so, can you translate and give us a synopsis?

i think its a prebiotic approach,,, taking this particular substance: 1,4-dihydroxy-2-naphthoic acid (DHNA) ...{quote} and its salts have been found to have excellent preventive and therapeutic action against...and to suppress epithelial ulceration or erosion, which are typical pathological profiles of DSS colitis, and also suppress submucosal cellular infiltration and submucosal thickening {unquote} the last part about cellular infiltration and thickening, is suggesting bowel wall improvement! then goes on about how to actually manufacture this drug which remarkaly comes from a fermentation process (but you dont need to know that) but anyways when injesting DHNA (various ways listed) it promotes a "good " flora bacteria environment (i think) to actually grow,, i would hafta review it again. Mabe do a google search on the topic of "prebiotic and crohns" as opposed to probiotic to understand prebiotics. I would like to reread the patent tho to see what this chemical is doing. and No i havnt tried it. i will through out an analogy at you::: in most basic of terms,, this is like adding table salt to cottage cheese (not exactly but you get the idea). Im a bit weary of milk products but i cant provide a better analogy,,,it is for explanation purposes only.
