I am ready to scream with frustration.
My gastroscopy yesterday found an hiatus hernia. No reflux, no sign it was there so a surprise.
My pain though is down around and just above belly button. They couldnt get that far and no one is looking. I keep telling them thats where the pain is.
But because i have no family history of diagnosed crohn's they are not keen to admit thats what it is. Meantime I have a wait of at least 4-5 weeks before i can see doc. again, and pain is getting worse in stomach and joints. I cant tolerate much solid food, and my temp. jumps from 97 degrees to 99.6.
Pill cams dont get used in UK and evey appointment and followup appointments for results have 6 weeks between them.

Hi judith, Nobody in my family has Crohn's except me. It can skip generations. with you temps those are normal range. Are you seeing a gastro doctor or a family doctor? Gastro doctors now about crohn's. i hope you get some reilf soon.

Judith, Keep pushing them. That was exactly where my pain always was prior to my dx 26 years ago. I'm not saying you do have CD, but the doctors need to find out why you have pain there. I agree with teddybear, you need to be seeing a specialist -- although I'm not sure how the healthcare works in the UK. Please keep us updated.

Hi Judith, the old health care system still working the same then? It doesn't seamed to have changed since I left there. However,
I miss the fact that my a*** was covered, whether I had money or not....
As far as the family history thing, I'm the only one (to my knowledge) that has crohns. I know you are supposed to be more predisposed,
but obviously not in all cases.

I know this is taking a long time, but keep hacking away at it. After all, we know our bodies the best. Good luck, my fellow Brit LOL....

I too am the only person in my family to have crohns and took me a very long time to get help, I was very sick before they would do the test and they kept thinking it was crohns but tested for everything else first. Its a very fustrating process but you just got to hang in there and start really pushing for answers dont leave with out them. Best of wishes to you.

If they don't do the Pill Cam in the UK, what about a CT Enterography? Or maybe even a Nuclear White Blood Cell Scan? They used to use Ceretec but maybe have something better for the nuclear WBC scan, Indium maybe? At least it will detect inflammation in the small intestine and where.

I'm also the only one to have have Crohn's or any related type disorder in my family and I'm "into" genealogy and buy the death certificates (giving cause of death) and so am pretty darn sure I haven't missed any one who might have had it. I haven't found anyone who has had ANY type of intestinal disorder or problems in our family on either side.
