Can you drink coffee?

haven't had any for 20 years....too acidic for my stomach and get lots of hearburn....

I can drink coffee, but I choose not to because of the caffeine which is known to exacerbate IBD symptoms (same with fast-foods, processed foods/beverages, sugar (including sugar substitutes) and animal fat...which is why I avoid all that too.

I drink chamomile tea with honey everyday first thing when I wake up.

Any caffeine, even from chocolate if I eat too much, will irritate me. I drank a single bottle of orange soda w/caffeine a few months ago, and I spent the next week and a half recovering.

Hi i drink coffee everyday with no problems. Also i drink plenty of ice water.

When I'm flaring I can't drink or anything it seems....but when I am better, I can tolerate one cup of expresso a day.... I have a latte, with honey , just the one and I'm fine. Some other days I like iced green tea with melon syrup...but again just one.
..... I do suck on ice cubes all day.... and get up in the middle of night to do the same.... I seem to crave ice cubes...

There is more cafine in tea than coffee...so if you can handle tea then that is good.  I can not handle tea at all but can handle a very small amount of coffee.  If I drink to much then then I have the big "D"....but tea gives me the big "D" and heartburn right away.

There is also plenty of caffeine free teas, and you can get caffeine free coffee as well, which I'll have on occassion as I don't find a difference in taste at all.

Some people say for them there is a difference, I've had a variety of both and never noticed any difference in taste myself, but some say they can (maybe it's just a mental thing for them, they know it's decaff so they automatically in their mind decide it doesn't taste good or the same as caffeinated.

I deal with C, so I love my coffee mixed with glycolax in the morning...it is the way to start the day :)

as for caffeine in tea, it really depends how long you steep it, and usually there is quite a lot less than coffeee.

I have a HUGE obsession with iced coffee!! But both Decaf and Regular seem to bother me..Definitely noticed Starbucks is the worst for my stomach though. But I still can't seem to stop myself!!

I can drink coffee.... so I drink it every singe day. I drink less than I used to though about 1 cup per day. I cannot drink it with any of the artificial sweeteners though, those make me very sick! Karen

as long as I'm not flaring, 2-6 cups a day for me! Iced if it's hot out.

I am a coffee drinker and it doesn't bother me, but if caffeine is truly a problem for you, then be careful with de-caf coffee....it still has some caffeine in it. My dad struggles with atrial fibrillation, and his cardiologist wants him on no caffeine whatsoever.

I haven't had a cup of coffee in 4 months - until today. Ahhhh - it was incredibly wonderful. So far, no problems. If there are problems, it will either be from the sushi or the coffee. This is what happens when I play a little hookie from work and spend the afternoon with my daughter, who loves to eat! She'll be leaving for the summer to be a camp counselor, so I'll go back to my old ways - not as much fun, but probably easier on the old gut (and less expensive - I let her order - $50 worth of sushi, including tip, for just the two of us).

I love my one cup of coffee in the morning...but it barely tolerates me. That's OK though, sometimes you've got to take the good with the bad in any relationship -LOL.

I go straight to the bathroom after one cup. I now only drink it on Thanksgiving morning and actually I think that is over too because last year I had a bad flare the day after thanksgiving that lasted until March 15, 2008. I started Humira in Feb 2008. That probably didn't cause it but I'm scared now. I can drink tea though.

Complete addict. I have cut back a bit, but overall coffee is ok. Even if it wasn't, I'd probably still drink it anyway.

THANK GOODNESS this is not an issue for me...sometimes I get the feeling I dont really have CD because my tolerants and what not are so different than most other CD sufferers...I stop at Starbucks just about every morning for a White Chocolate Mocha, yummo...but I start every morning with a cup of coffee at my house too, hoping that it will cause a bowel movement...with no avail...
