Does anyone know how good ultrasound scans are for diagnosing Crohn's. Can they see enough.

i would say no..... unless your chron's is really bad i would say no.

Have never even heard of an ultrasound being used to detect Crohn's or Crohn's activity. I'm a Judith in the US. I take it you are in the UK, Judith? Why are you asking? You have my curiosity up!

Ultrasound is the next thing they want to do to find out what the pain is in my middle. Colon and stomach look ok, but the pain is in the middle. They dont use pill cams here and a barium follow through hasnt occured to anyone yey. Its very frustrating.

I can only imagine just HOW frustrating!! They do use abdominal ultrasound to detect cysts on the ovaries. So it won't be a total waste. One step at a time. *sigh* (When we want answers YESTERDAY or better yet LAST WEEK!). Good luck!
