Lower back and leg pain on one side???

Hi, I have had CD for over 30 years. I thought that I have seen and had it all, however in the last few weeks I wake up with pain in my lower back and can barely stand on my left leg: my left side, meaning buttocks and leg hurt a lot and are very weak. Has anyone had this? Btw: Stress has been VERY high as our daughter just got married this weekend :-) Thank you, Marybeth

I too have been having alot of lower back pain. This has been going on now for at least 3 to 4 weeks went to my chiropractor twice last week and i'm still having pain.I'm thinking maybe i should have it xrayed. Hope you find the source of your pain and find some relief soon.

I have pain ,also. It starts in lower back and travels down through the hip and leg. Mine is also on one side. I had a MRI and have 2 bulging disks in my back.  Sciatica might could be a reason, also.I am going to physical therapy. I cannot remember having any injury to cause the pain.It has been going on for a few months now.But I just recently started physical therapy for it.

sounds like sciatica. Should have a doc take a look. Can be something easily solved with stretching, pain reliever, and chiropractor or might need more attention. I have it too--tis awful. Good luck!

I have heard of sciatica. I know many get it, however is this often caused by CD, UC, or auto immune etc conditions??? I just have a feeling it is? I know my body too well. . .

Interesting... I had that problem one time... *Well, I still have lower back pain... hip pain... knee pain... ankle pain...* Get some pain in my shoulders and elbows and wrists a bit, too...

But anyway... I woke up one day and had horrible pain on just my right side... my hip and my knee... I had an MRI on my back done...

Couple of bulging discs... Mild wear and tear is what it was called by my doctor... *Not getting any kind of relief....*

I am also having this same exact type of pain, but I am also getting numbness and tingling(pins and needles) when I sit down.  In the past 2 weeks I have had an MRI, small bowel study, ultra sound, and nerve conduction study done.  In the MRI, they found that I have 4 minimally bulging disks in my lumbar, some scoleosis, some back arthritis, and abnormal nerve problems in both my legs and my right arm.  All of this basically leads to pinched nerves in my back.

I have not had an episode recently when I hurt myself, but the pain came on gradually and got to the point that I could not lift my right leg high enough to put pants on myself.  Then the pins and needles started and my leg function came back but with weakness.  My G.I. said that there is condition with crohn's, in which inflammation in your spine can cause the nerves to become constricted and inpinched.  He said that if you have had a previous injury there in the past, then you are more likely to have this happen to you. I pinched 3 nerves in my back when I was wrestling in high school.  I saw a chiropractor back then and from time to time throughout the past 11 years, but having only really treated it with physical therapy and massage. Let us know how you end up treating it.  I am trying to avoid another surgery at all costs.

My pain was similar with a dislocated disk in my lower back. It was pinching the nerve. I had severe pain at the lower edge of my left cheek and eventually my left leg went completely numb. I waited too long to have it looked at (could no longer sit or stand)
Go see your doc. If it is sciatica or a protruding disk, physical therapy is great if you catch it early. You can avoid surgery (forever or for a while depending) if you get into PT.
