Do rectal or vaginal filstulas ever just "clear up" and go away on their own? 

I had a very small rectal fistula and humira had cleared it up , but now i have to go off it, and I'm hoping it doesn't come back

I'm dealing with a small recto-vaginal fistula right now and just started Remicade a few weeks ago. I'm sure it hasn't completely closed up but I can tell you that all fistula related symptoms have disappeared since starting treatment. I can't imagine that a fistula would heal on it's own. It would just getting bigger until it "healed open". And from what I understand, sometimes they come back unfortunately. Hopefully someone else can offer you more information on this. I currently have a rv fistula that I can't get to clear up even with drugs! I've had it for 8 months and it is still totally open and draining. Even my remicade hasn't helped yet. Sorry that you have to go off the Humira. I hope you can find a way to clear it up!

Not in my experience. I had to have surgery to get my rectal one fixed. Even then it took a year after the surgery to heal up completely. They are nasty buggers!
