Anyone else have near normal bloodwork, but still feel crappy!!

Hi everyone,
The doc took a whole bunch of bloods last week, as I felt and looked pretty sick (her words not mine). Apart from my
triglycerides being high again, everything else was borderline normal.
What does this DD do, hide on ya!! It blows my mind that I can feel like this, but no evidence. I'm so worn out, bloated
and in pain, and this while on Humira... I was wondering if they might see more if they did a colonscopy. My GI did say
that if I wasn't much improved in 6 months he would do one. However, I'm struggling with chronic pancreatis too, so it's
difficult to know which one is being the culprit right now.... I'm also dropping weight, about 8lbs in 3 months, again, either
can cause this. I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place.
On a different note, for those who know me, you know Keith my husband has recently had surgery, and he went through
some pretty traumatic times in ICU. He now feels very emotional and frightened. Does any of you know anything about
post traumatic stress disorder, and is it possible to suffer from it, following such a surgery and recovery?

Thanks for listening guys. I know I haven't posted much, but I look in everyday, and I know some of you are going through
bad times too right now. Please know I'm thinking of you all. LOL

Vicky, Your husband is probably going through something similar to PTSD it will take a while for him to trust his body again.
As for near normal test results-I was ill for nine months lost a third of my body weight, had a fever part of every day for nine months and all of the tests were normal. Blood, urine, nuclear, mri, ct......
All normal.
I had a great doctor. She never once did not believe I was ill. In fact she told me during my first visit she was 90% sure it was a connective tissue disease (10% that it could be thyroid) and never changed her mind despite the tests. Then I took a nap one day and woke up looking like I had a softball inside my knee and all my tests came back positive. I am not impressed with test results unless they say what I want them to say.

I have been feeling horribly for a month now and my GI did a bunch of tests, but everything came back normal. We are now contimplating a hospital stay to do further testing. Even though my results came back normal my GI believes me when I say I feel like crap. I think that is really important because it makes me feel like I am not so crazy.

Yep same here. Was sicker than a dog and my blood levels were all borderline Normal/Low.

Vicky, I just got done starting a thread on a similar topic. My tests are also normal. Yes, it is very frustrating! I hope you feel better soon.

Hi - I'm sorry you don't feel well..you and your husband have been through so much. Depression and anxiety are very common after heart surgery, as it is with chronic illness, as we all know. It's hard when you used to trust your own body and then it doesn't behave as it should. Perhaps you husband might benefit from some short term counseling to process his feelings, and/or antidepressent medication. As he gets stronger and recovers, the anxiety may lessen, but he shouldn't have to suffer now!
As for you, My GI doc has told me that all bloodwork can be normal, and you can still be in a flare. Symptoms are more relevant than blood tests. Does the Humira help at all? Maybe it isn't the right medication for you.

Hi Vicky,

I swear this disease DOES hide!  I have had A LOT of blood work done this past year and everything has been normal. 

I hope both you and your husband start feeling better soon.

My husband went for his follow up appt,. today. They are going to run a couple more tests on him....They've also told
him he's probably suffering with post op depression, they've given him Zoloft. I'm hoping that's gonna help him. Right
now he's suffering, and that's hard for me to watch....

I have the same problem... Could've swore I had another UTI... *I had another one shortly after my kidney infection... it cleared up with some Cipro... but I was sure I had another one* Pain during urination... slow to go... feeling like I have to go a lot and can't get anything to come out... but the test results say I don't have one... *Going to make an appointment with my OBGYN again... maybe he can figure it out* And then... I have tummy pain... kinda feels like Crohn's pain... but... my white blood cell count has gone back to normal... *My red blood cell count is a little low, though...*


Meh.... I'll never understand test results... one time... I was in the hospital....

I had a severe UTI and it was making my Crohn's flare worse... I was in so much pain... more pain than I had ever been in, in my life... They gave me as much deladda, morphine, and Percoset they could give me without ODing me, and I was still in tons of pain...

The doctor came in, in the morning... frustrated at me... Saying that my test results did not support the amount of pain I was in... *I was getting blood taken every day* ... The next day... the doctor came in, apologizing... because apparently the blood tests showed I had a VERY high white blood cell count...

Those of you with good, trusting doctors... I envy you... I swear mine all think I'm a hypochondriac... or maybe even a druggie (despite the fact that, although I've been in pain, I have not asked for anymore pain medicine... I guess it's my pride getting the best of me. I will not stand for being labelled the very thing that makes my blood boil)
