erythema nodosum

Yes, I have had it. I was in a horrible flare, and was put on 60 mg. of pred. Basically, once you gut under control then the EN will usually take care of itself.

My son got erythema nodosum last year.  His GI said that it was an external symptom of what was happening on the inside, and in fact his sed rate was over 100 at the time.  He was put on prednisone and the pain from the bumps went away fairly quickly.  However, it did take a LONG time for the bruising to go away.

 

Yep i've had it three times the first time being the worst. Gi put me on a higher dose of pred seem to do the job. They are very painful and leave a place on you like a bruise sometimes it's slow to go away. I thought i was in remission when i had my first case gi said my crohns was active.

I used to get these occasionally about 8 to 10 years ago.  They were on my lower legs around the calf.  For me they were large, red, hot and painful bumps.  They would stay for a couple of months and then go away.  When they would go away they left a purplish bruised spot that lasted many months.  I was always in a constant unrelenting flare for about 15 years so I can't really say what exactly brought them on or why they stopped.  I haven't had one in about 6 years now.
