Last year I was diagnosed with Dairy allergy, asthma, and Crohn's disease within a month of each other.
Since then, I avoid all dairy, religiously. I have to! Even a trace will have racing to the toilet. Ugh! Anyway... I see your original post is from 2008 but I still wanted to chime in. I am currently being treated for Crohn's with 150mg of Imuran daily. I feel absolutely great, so long as I avoid dairy like it's the plague. I had a repeat colonoscopy 1 year after initial diagnosis. I still was showing some signs in my cecum but the doctor told me it was just a tiny area. That's great news right?! Right! I never have symptoms of Crohn's. I am convinced that being unaware of my dairy allergy, for who knows how long, is the cause of the inflammation/damage to my guts and that I don't have Crohn's at all. I am getting married in 45 days. I have decided that after the honeymoon I am going to talk to my doctor and try life without Imuran. I will update after I speak with my doctor. I am sure they are going to tell me to continue therapy. I am just not the type of person who takes medicine very lightly. I don't take it unless I absolutely have to. Not to mention, when you take this specific medicine, it comes along with regular blood tests that insurance doesn't cover to make sure your levels are healthy.
