Sooo... my first job turn down due to crohn's

I went through three interviews for a position at a call center... yes, a call center. They pay wasn't that great, but the manager was personable. The offer was made. I went and did my mouth swab drug test and took in copies of all my medications from the pharmacy. They put on the test paperwork Crohn's. The next day I got a call that the offer had been rescinded. I asked why and was told it was policy.??? policy for what?? Didn't get a response. Great. Still sittin' at home each day filling out applications and doing phone interviews.

What a bummer. I am now full flare. Looks like I will be going back off food and getting back on prednisone as well.

Something will come up. I told the recruiter up front about everything and asked that he not disclose my illness to the employer, which he did not. The results were supposed to be sent to them, but they sent them to the employer. I was pretty "peeved" to say the least.

We are keeping our head above water. Starting a better leopard gecko breeding program. Figure we are good at it, why breed 30 dollar lizards when we can breed 700 dollar lizards and make it worth our time. Been putting back money from sales into an upgrade fund to purchase more expensive females. We have got the groundwork laid... by next summer we will be making some money off this hobby.

As for work, hell, I called Duncan Donuts today to see what they were paying - lol Until I land a job, I will keep on keeping on. Chin up/chest out, as my mother always says. Guess it's time to sell of some stuff... but no way am I selling my horse!

a job is a job..one that is comfortable for your stomach is even better...I learned not to tell an employer until they can't live without you, learn every task and just takeover. Your disease won't mean crap to them if you basically run the place.

I'm right with you Texan.  That job I was all excited about... Well I had to disclose that I had Crohn's due to medical "screening" and now they're making see one of their physicans before I can start to "clear me".  Totally SUCKS!  I go Thursday so hopefully I'll know then.

reynoldi- How they get away with it not being discrimination is that they state that the offer stands IF everything is completed and ok'd in a timely manner.  I also HAD to sign a paper stating that they could let me go at anytime for any reason...drug screens, medical screening, etc...

I'm sooooooooooooo sorry!

I changed jobs about two years ago and didn't tell my new employer about my condition (Crohns Colitis). Unfortunately, within the first 5 months at my new employer, I had an attack so painful that I had to leave work in an ambulance. Fortunately, I work for a major healthcare company that owns several hospitals, so they understood.
