hi, i'm new to the forum and just thought i'd ask some questions as i am so confused at the moment and unable to get any answers! I'm 21 years old and female. i have always had problems with my stomach it used to be just constipation but since towards the end of last year and up to now i have been having intermittent bouts of dirrahoea, stomach gurgles and rumbles, sore and tender ribs and muscles on my right side, unexplained bruises on my shins and always feel tired. I've lost weight also which part was intentional and the other kilos i think is from the chronic dirrhoea.
I was diagnosed with fructose malabsorption earlier this year and i know the symptoms that this causes but i know how to control that through diet change, so i'm pretty sure it isnt what is still causing my problems because i am very careful with avoiding what i should. a few months ago i had a really sudden bout of severe stomach pain, where i couldnt walk or move because it hurt so much. i went to the hospital and they put it down to IBS, maybe it was excessive gas build up? I have had a gastroscopy, colonoscopy and biopsies taken and they have come back all normal. Before the internal examinations i had a high reading on the inflammation markers blood test, which lead my GI to test me for crohn's. He is still worried i have it because of my symptoms but i keep thinking i don't? I am currently on salofalk and am going to get reviewed again in a few days. No one can seem to give me a straight answer because this disease is so hard to diagnose? what i am wondering is, is it possible to have negative results but still have crohn's? has anyone else been through numerous testing before they finally got an answer?
thanks!
