Bacteria are widely distributed and commonly colonize infant's guts upon birth (except for C-sections in which case it takes a bit longer and the bacteria species can be different). Lactobacillus reuteri is found in most mammals' guts and is the most prevalent Lactobacillus species in the gut. It is available from Nature's Way and probably others. For more detail about
it see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactobacillus_reuteriIt is the best at reducing gut inflammation and has several other virtues, so it would be a good one to try. Ask your doctor about
taking it before the baby comes. I don't see any problem, but it is up to you and your doctor.
