pain meds

Hello all-

 

I am going to see my gastro on Tuesday and tell him I want to go back on the prednisone. Actually I dont want to.. but I cant take the pain, fevers, diarrhea and fatigue anymore. I have been taking darvocet during the day to get thru work and vicodin at nite. The vicodin doesnt take away the pain anymore but it makes it more bearable. I am almost out of both and am going to ask him for more rxes for pain mgt as well. Anyway, my question is are there any other drugs you would recommend instead? I used to use the Ultram but that does nothing anymore.

You can either get a stronger vicoden(7.5 mg hydrocodone), up your dosage of vicoden, or switch to an oxycodone derivative. Make sure you discuss with your doctor because you build tolerances to these medicines and you will get addicted physically...not to mention it doesn't help you heal as fast as if you weren't using a narcotic. Prednisone should help your flare get under control and hopefully you won't need an increase or different pain meds.
