Hair Removal in pregnancy

Hi, I am going on holiday and i am not sure if i can use epilator to remove hair from my legs and bikini line. Is it safe in pregnancy?? I forgot to ask my doctor..... Thanks everyone!!!

15 weeks pregnant, pregnancare, Imuran 100mg and fish oil.

I've always heard those things hurt like the devil - but if you're used to it I think it's perfectly safe to use while you're pregnant. There are no chemicals involved, to my understanding, and it seems as though the "trauma" would be minimal (if you're used to it!). And I don't think the electricity of the machine would be any different than a regular electric razor... so... I would say go for it, have a fabulous holiday, and congratulations!!

On a side note: I've known several women who have gotten tattooed while pregnant will no adverse effects, and I would think that would be a no-no. Thus my reasoning that - if an Epilator hurts equal to or less than a tattoo machine - it's fine.

tattoo is a little different...the risk there is infection from a dirty needle...so there would be a lot more risk for a pregnant lady.

Call your dr. and ask the nurse if it is ok...then you don't have to worry. :)

but I bet with the higher blood flow to the area it might hurt a bit more...

They do on the bikini line

. It's not bad on the pits and legs though.
