I had a scope this week and the doctor said there was much active disease in the rectosigmoid area to 30 cm. I have an appt soon to discuss treatments, but I'm wondering what are the good options for this area of disease. I've found it works best when I can suggest treatments to the doc, because otherwise he'll put me on pred, or want me to try another clinical trial (I've been in 4 or 5 over the last 10 yrs).
I've been on Pentasa, Azathioprine, and Xifaxin for a couple of years with decent success. I don't have a lot of symptoms besides D, bleeding, and feeling generally crappy sometimes, so I don't want to go for a really aggressive treatment now like biologics that I've tried in the past. And definitely don't want pred. Are rectal - 5-ASA or steroids a good course?
