iam always sick,why?

shakehead  hi everyone iam new to this, iam 29 yrs old and have been having stomach problems for years.my stomach swells,bleeding , mucus,vomiting,bad cramps, false urges,pain after eating or drinking.fevers,chills,extremely tired all the time.pain in the left and right.

i have also been diagnoised with a fistula that goes through my intestine to a palce high up on my bum.

sometimes i dont have a bowel movement for days and other days all i do is have extreme diareha.

my moms sister has chrons and my dad had ulcers in his intestines.

what is going on. i have to go to the hospital on the 17 of december for a colonoscopy and iam scared. what are they going to find.how bad will it hurt.

 they are also taking tissue samples. and what if after all these testings they dont find anything wrong, i've been sick for so long i need to know what is wrong with me.

sometimes i have to take a bucket to the bathroom with me because i vomit at the same time as bowel movements.

i have to drink picosalax before hospital how bad is it.everything online that iam reading really scares me.any advice  please

Hi I have taken the pisosalax too and it is not alot to drink so I don't find it too bad. It can be a bit tiring running to the bathroom but the scope is worth it to find out what is wrong. I was put to sleep so didn't mind the scope that way. Good to tell your Dr' that if that is what you perfer. At least if they do find out what it is you will be able to get some help. lol gail

So sorry for all that you're going through, I think the colonoscopy won't be any worse than what you're experiancing with symptoms...which BTW definitley sound like CD (fistuals can be related to CD and with your family history, things are kinda pointing that way) but rest assured, the sooner you get the colonoscopy (and I'm imagining the other standard tests, blood, stool, small bowel follow through, ect) the sooner they'll be able to hopefully get you on the road of recovery.

yes it will be good to know,but still scary. the are giving me a sedative, but iam a really shy girl and the thought of them down there freaks me out too, which i know is silly, but iam so tired of being sick all the time, and tired of feeling hopeless all the time

as far as that goes, iam lucky to be getting a colonoscopy done,if it wasnt for the doctor in emergency when i was vomiting blood i wouldnt be having it done. i told him all my symptoms and he booked me for one.

when i talked to my family doctor i was told poor you,your going through so much.

Tummyache you will find that most of us gripe about the prep and not the actual test itself. My dr gives sedation and its totally pain free for me. I am groggy when I wake up and usually when I get home I go straight to bed to get rid of the sedation. I have zero recall of the scope. Good luck I am so glad you are getting it done, it should tell the dr alot. Susie

It does sound likely to be Crohn's, I'm sorry you had to go through so many years without getting any tests. You will probably be starting some medicines if you are diagnosed and they should help you feel better. And I would get a new family doctor if I were you because he ignored some serious, obvious symptoms. Best of luck.

thanks for the support guys.from the sounds of the prep i should get some books and settle in for a long day.does it go any easier if i start my liquid diet a day or 2 earlier?

as for getting a new family doctor it was really hard getting this one.my mom has been trying to get me into hers for years.hopefully they will be able to find something out next week.hopefully i will get diagnosed because ive had this fistula and drainage site open and draining since nov2006.once they find out what i have they will do surgery to closeit, hopefully soon, because last year it turn into cellulitus and that really hurt.

Yes should do the liquid diet at least the day before the colonoscopy. It helps you not have as much that needs to get out. Good luck and I agree with the above posters, does sound like Crohns to me too.

cry  ok. so today is prep day for me and tomorrow is the ''big day''.thankfully my bro is going to drive me so i dont have to take a taxi. and my hubby bought me a whole lot of juice.wish me luck guys.

Got fingers, toes, and everything crossed that all goes well for you tomorrow. Today is the worst of it, and that is the prep. Tomorrow hopefully you will have the answers you are looking for. Be sure to tell your brother to pay attention to what the doc says afterwards, as you will be groggy and won't remember much.

Just wanted to say good luck!!! The prep is the worst part. I was pretty squeamish about anyone going down there either, but believe me when I say you fall asleep before they even tell you you're going to and wake up right after! It's good to hear you had a good ER doctor. Mine misdiagnosed me and sent me on my way hah. Though in his defense he wasn't too far off....
I think you'll be fine. It's a great step you've taken to get this done. Keep us updated on your situation!

i have to go try and drink that stuff down soon.i hope it doesnt taste to nasty and i hope i dont get too sick from it. anytime i take a laxative i get really strong urges to vomit and sometimes have to sit there with a bucket on my lap.

(lol...sorry for the mental image)

then on thursday i have to go to my family doc because they have got ultrasounds results they need to discuss with me for another issue. (liver,abs.)

the lump in my neck has gotten a little bigger since last week.

when it rains it pours eh.always onething after another

Well, I'm not going to lie....it's probably the worst thing I have ever had to drink in my life. The cherry phosphosoda anyway. The lemon was a little better. Just remember that even if you don't get all of it down it may still be okay. My nurses told me a little debris was all right. There are plenty of people who don't finish all of it and still get a pretty clear picture of their insides.

everyone says the same thing the prep is the worst and it is! i had the lemon and i couldnt hold the first liter down but the second liter in the morning wasnt so bad just remind yourself your not going to be sick anymore once they find out whats wrong with you! :) good luck! the colonoscopy wont be so bad! :)

Yes heres one more good luck to ya. Its definitely a perk that you dont remeber anything. Literally. Lol Ihave gone trough 4 now and prep is the worst like everyone else has said. Pecosalax reminds me of that lemon stuff you take for colds that comes in packages and you heat some water and mix it. Bleh. Anyways good luck and good health to ya. :)

ok guys. iam back for a few moments. my backside really hurts.lol.

picosalax doesnt taste too bad, i didnt gag anyways. wouldnt want to drink it everyday but it is tolerable. kicked in about 30 mins after taking it.

my hubby has been laughing at me all day.and on the bright side i did get to read a very good good book today. the shack..opps gotta run...later
