This may seem like a silly question, but I get so paranoid.  So it has been impossible to get a hold of a someone to get a nurse to come out to get me started on my Humira.  I have a GI appt. tomorrow, so they told me just to bring it with and they will show me how to do it.  This will be my first (loading) dose.  My question is, should I be okay to drive back home afterward?  it's about a 45 minute drive and I have nobody to go with me. Has anyone had anything happen to them?

You should be fine to drive. It stings a lot- be prepared for that, but other than that bee sting feeling, you feel pretty normal afterwards. Just hang around the dr's office for 15-20 min if you are worried- if anything happens that it usually when it would. i have given myself many, and have had no problems at all.

I got pretty tired and woozy and sleepy after those four injections and was glad to be using public transport to get home.

I think that, if you're at all worried, it might be better to get a taxi or a lift there. Better safe than sorry.

I had my loading doses in the office, I thought that was standard?

You'll be fine to drive. I freaked myself out over it but it was no big deal. Really. I went right back to work and told them I couldn't believe I had gotten myself worked up over it like that.

I felt the same after my loading doses as I did before them. As the others already said, maybe find someone to take you if you're worried, but I think you'll feel fine...good luck on those by the way. They will sting BUT I've noticed they get a little bit better over time so...

I was the same as the others just 4 stings but no big deal and I drove myself there and back, without a hitch. Hope it goes well for u too

Thank you.  I know I am probably worrying about nothing, but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.   I will probably just see how I feel afterward.  If I am still worried, then I will wait in the doctor's offices for 20 min. or so.  I couldn't hurt.

Thanks for easing my mind.

It's normal to worry - I did. I was literally sick over worrying about it. My GI MADE me stay in the office for a good 30-45  minutes afterwards to make sure there was no reaction. I think most doctors probably do that.

My doc's office they made me wait 20 mins or so to see if there was any reaction. There wasn't, but about 90 minutes or 2 hours later I started getting muscle shakiness and weakness in my legs and arms. I could have driven if I needed to. I still get the shakiness after just one shot, and my doc told me to take benadryl before the shot. It worked this week, but maybe because the benadryl put me to sleep!
