Anyone flare before their remicade infusion?

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced what I have...I will be going for my second remicade infusion tomorrow (already had the 3 loading doses months ago) and last time and this time i end up going to the bathroom more, having more diarreah, more blood, more mucus, and more pain about 2 weeks before my infusion...i'm on a 6 week interval right now and my doctor is actually upping my dosage tomorrow, so maybe it will "last longer"...i'm just not really if it's the remicade wearing off slowly or what...any input would be helpful!!!! thanks :)

Yes, my remicade used to weqar off before my next infusion and I would flare. I took months for my doc to believe me/get it approved through insurance and so she would try to "hold me over" by boosting my prednisone for weeks. I was furious. But remicade was new for Crohn's back then. Your doc might have you wait since he is upping the dose for your next infusion, but you are very wise to make note of it. You need to see if it holds you this time or if it still wears off. You might need your infusions closer together - or the higher dose - which you are going to get soon! I hope it does the trick!!!

I had similar problems when I started to try to "space out" my infusions. We tried upping my dosage, but it didn't work for me - it made me feel like I had been hit by semi truck. What finally ended up working for me was to get the infusions every 4 weeks for 6 months until I was "healed"... that kept me from flaring and then I was eventually able to go every 8+ weeks in between.

I used to flare right before my next infusion. I am now at the max dose of 10mg/kg every 4 weeks. It has been this way for 1 year and has worked for me. Good luck to you! Blessings, Julie
