I received this article in my inbox today:
Absence of Infliximab in Infant Sera and Breast Milk From Nursing Mothers Receiving Therapy for Crohn's Disease Before and After Delivery.
The authors are from Mayo Clinic, University of Chicago, and Centocor Inc.
The study followed three patients who were given remicade in the 30th week of pregnancy and again within two weeks of giving birth. They found no evidence of anti-TNF antibodies in breast milk or the infants.
This is a small study, but still it might allow any prospective mothers to feel more comfortable about receiving Remicade during their pregnancy or while nursing.
