I had one about
a year ago. In my case it was after a scope. I did it then because the doc wanted it, and he said if it didn't do it right away I'd have to prep again...I was alittle loopy so actually my husband decided that one for me.
I had to drink 3 large glasses of chilled liquid, I was given 15 min to drink each one. It is thin, more like water, but it had that vaguely fruit-like taste that the SBFE barium has. I did not have a problem with it. Then I had the CT scan with IV contrast. They did 2 or 3 scans.
It does show a lot more. I had several "regular" CT scans and a SBFT, finally with the CT-E they were able to get a good idea of how much inflammation was going on and make a diagnosis.
Good luck.
