Peptamen nutritional drink-- want to try for free??

Hi fellow Crohnies,

I was wondering if anyone wanted 3 cans of the nutritional supplement drink, Peptamen, which is made by Nestle. I was using a liquid diet for awhile to manage my Crohn's, and I had purchased these to try them. I didn't really like the taste, and I am using Humira now, so I no longer need them. But they are quite expensive (about $17 a can) so I didn't want them to go to waste. You can drink them or use them through tube feeding. They're complete nutrition and the kind I have is Vanilla Peptamen 1.5 (high protein). You can check out Nestle's website for info on it. I have been on Humira for about 2 months... I actually just injected myself a few minutes ago! It's been working great for me so far. I hadn't been on a traditional Rx in about 6 years, managing with diet modifications and nutritional supplements, but I had a bad flare about a year ago that I just couldn't kick, & I was getting complications from a stricture in my small intestine. So, after trying Entocort, which didn't really work, I finally gave in and tried Humira despite my reservations about it and its possible side effects.

It has been night and day for me. I had all sorts of food sensitivities (bread, tomato, lettuce, mint, to name a few) before, but now I can eat anything! I've gained about 20 lbs since starting it, so now I am finally at a healthy weight (before I could hardly get to 100 lbs & I'm 5'4''). I haven't noticed any side effects yet. Honestly, I'm more concerned about the long term side effects like being at a higher risk for cancer or possibly getting TB b/c of the immune suppressing function of the Rx. But, I do think it's better than relying on prednisone. I was on steroids for over 3 years when I was first diagnosed, and consequently got osteoperosis at age 15. So I am very anti-prednisone at this point.
