I went into my PCP yesterday because my body is SWOLEN, my fingers, hands, wrists, knees, ankles, feet... I'm mean swolen. I was A-1 Freaked! So rather than going back to prednisone he's going to put me on a srong NSAID - this just frightens me more. I don't know about that. NSAID + CD = BAD
He also insisted I get into that Rhemy doc and now he wants me to go to a pain mgmt doc referred to by him. I did that once without a referral, but that doctor was... well, her office looked more like a drug seekser's place, so I stopped going there. The people in the waiting room were just... well, not right.
PCP agrees that 7.5 pain pills he gives will not be enough. He wants me on a reumy med for arthritis and a pain med from pain mgmt. Guess I don't understand much about pain medication because I didn't understand what he was babbling on about levels and the government. ????
Guess I'll go pick up my NSAIDS, and pack a couple of sedatives for today. Can't be freaking out at work. If the pain in my gut gets any worse from the NSAID... I be going to the ER. Steady 8 out of 10 going on three days now. 1 - 5 = annoying; 6 - 7 = hurts but can cope; 8 - 9 = okay this stuff hurts pretty bad.... please make it stop. 10 = ER visit
Happy I got that one day that was pain free to ride.... good things can happen.
Anyways, looks like PCP doctors only prescribe "lower-level class" pain meds, whatever that means. So you, like me, will have to go into a pain management doctor. I swear if they talk condescending to me or even look at me wrong (I don't like doctors) I will unleash the wrath of the Leslie upon them. It's been locked up tight for sometime now, so it should be an effective weapon.
(past the point of crying - the pain has me in some warped extreme agitation. Is the similar to the seven stages of grief? Are the stages of pain from a psych standpoint??
