I have had this lump on the right side of my stomach for about 2 months.  It changes in shape,normally resembles a sausage, but also changes to a hard lump in the mid right region.  I've had a CT (Negative), I've had a fecal blood test done (negative).  I was constipated for awhile, but have started to become regular again.  I'm not really in any pain, the only pain I feel is usually a dull ache on my right side and it's not very often.  I probably wouldn't even worry about chron's, but I've found a couple of internet sites that say a sausage lump could be chron's, however I just figure I'd be in more pain.

Any ideas???  The Dr said it's probably irritable bowel (he ruled out chron's with the ct and fecal test).  Also when I press on the lump the internet said a chron's lump would be tender.  I can push the heck out of this and not feel much (except bruising later :-) )

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi My first thought would be abscess or hernia. Other then that not sure what is going on ..You could see if you can get in to see a GI maybe to get checked with a scope .If it is the bowel maybe the Dr. can tell you what is up...lol gail

To be honest it doesn't sound like Crohns to me. I think you would have way more symptoms. I would suggest a colonoscopy to be sure. Good luck!

A CT scan and fecal occult blood test (both negative) cannot "rule out" Crohns disease. Bleeding with Crohns is not that common and may be intermittent when it occurs. CT scans are limited in that they cannot show small-scale ulcerations and areas of inflammation. They are best at showing scarring and narrowing, which may or may not be rpesent in Crohns. As note the colonoscopy, linked with biopsies and clinical history, remains the diagnostic gold standard, along with a small bowel follow through seroes of Xrays and perhaps the pill cam. Frankly I would be more aggressive in seeking diagnoosis of a persistent palpable lump in the abdomen, which could be a hernia or abscess, as noted above, both of which could result in a sudden and serious septic crisis that could land you in the hospital and/or in emergency surgery.
