It has happened a couple times now today, I go to
open a bottle/do something with my hands and my index finger just gets stuck, frozen, and I have to move it again with my other hand.. sounds weird, but you know how when your foot cramps up and you have to uncramp it with your hands to get it unstuck and going again? That's what's happening in my right hand today. It's kind of scaring me. Has this happened to anyone? I am on weekly humira, prednisone, entocort. Never had this problem before.

Hi Yes I have gone threw that with my fingers and toes.. the things just froze up and I used to run them under warm water or rub them .The toes were worst for me I blamed it on the meds and now I am not taking them things are better. What meds are you on ? I also must say that I am on B-12 and a vitamin.. which might have contributed to it.. lol gail

That always happens to me when on higher doses of oral steroids. It's no fun!

Yup, I get this too. I never think to mention it to the doc because, ironically, it doesn't particularly hurt.

Can the steroids really do that? I thought people took them for arthritis.... I know this isn't really arthritis but it seems like the prednisone shouldn't cause it...

Don't sweat it. I'm sure it's no big deal at all. When we are sick and on meds it seems when something unusual happens it tends to freak us out even more. On top of that we sometimes look for things that might be unusual to confirm our fears. The symptoms your describing are very common even among people that aren't sick. I was sanding a desk once and three of my fingers did that. Like you, I had to free them up with my other hand. That was 25 years ago and they still do it occasionally under the right circumstances so if I were you I wouldn't give it another thought. Best wishes, Tony

I agree with the others, I think it is the Prednisone doing that. I always get charly horses when I am Pred. Good luck!

I have this problem with my pinky but it started before I was ever on prednisone, so that's not what caused mine. Just does it occasionally but usually only for a day at a time.

Hi I remember after my first surgery I would go in and try to change the dressing and lo and behold my fingers would seize up. So there I was with my dressing needing changed and when it came to putting the tape on no way I could get them working ,but had to wait it out..so I now make sure I take vitamins as it was never confirmed what it was..maybe someone has got a good answer from their Dr. that might shed more light .. lol gail

Not to make light of the situation melissam24 cause it does sound annoying, but if that ever happens to me I hope only one finger becomes a trigger! Then I can blame my disease for my immediate opinions!
Sounds like Curly has hit the nail on the head or possibly some sort of adhesion that you work loose as you move the fingers around. I had an adhesion in my shoulder when I was on predinose that I had to do a course of physical therapy for. Couldn't raise my arm over my head. Joint adhesions are fairly common in some CDer's.
