Frozen Chicken and SCD diet

I got some chicken from the store which is frozen and says it has been enhanced with up to 15% seasoned chicken broth. It is supposedly protected with chicken broth glaze. It was way cheaper and was one of the big bags of already frozen chicken. The ingredients listed for the broth are: chicken broth and sodium phosphate. Does anyone know if this is ok to use on the SCD diet? I looked up sodium phosphate and it says it is commonly used in processed meats so I am thinking that it is not legal for the SCD diet but I thought I would check anyways, thanks!

It is probably not OK, since it is indeed processed. 

Also, it doesn't tell you what is in the broth..."seasoned" with what? "Chicken broth" could include a number of illegal things, even high fructose corn syrup. Unless it says the only ingredients in the broth are chicken and water, then it's probably not OK.

It says: Seasoned Chicken Brother Ingredients*: Chicken Broth and Sodium Phosphate. I cant seem to find where the * is described it is no where on the bag. Assuming the broth is only chicken, is Sodium Phosphate a legal ingredient?

I stay away from phosphates... I read recently that they might possibly increase the risk of lung cancer. It's amazing what you will find them in... flavored chips, most baked goods, meats, lemonade... it's crazy!

I don't think there is a legal frozen chicken. They all seem to have broth injected into them. I buy a bunch of fresh Sanderson Farm's chicken when it's on sale, and freeze them myself.

Sodium Phosphate is pretty harmless. It is only a bit different from salt. Even if you did not add any phosphate to chicken, it contains a few hundred milligrams per serving without anything added. In fact most foods naturally contain phosphate - it is a required nutrient for plant growth and exists in the blood and bones of each of us. I would be more concerned about breading, "flavoring", "spices", or "natural" ingredients - usually shorthand for starches, sugars and MSG.

It is highly unlikely the chicken broth is only chicken. At the very least, it would have to be chicken and water. The word "seasoned" is hiding ingredients. So is the word "broth."

I wouldn't eat it.  I wouldn't eat it even if I wasn't following SCD.

Organic, fresh is what makes my belly feel the best.

I would avoid it. Or do rather since I tried it a few times and it made me ill.
